How WordPress ruined everyone's life. (DO NOT USE IT)

At nicenerds we strive to make getting a new website or having your existing site fixed as smooth and easy as humanly possible. Unfortunately, there’s this thing called WordPress.

WordPress WAS the gold standard... until people realized it was an unmitigated disaster.

So how did this become the bane of small biz web presences worldwide? One word - Blogging.

For years I personally would recommend a custom Wordpress site… so that the small biz customer could then regularly share blog posts… as part of a marketing and SEO strategy to get better search results and more traffic. Unfortunately that was worth it back in the day when there literally wasn’t another viable option for blogging.

But over the years, many platforms have emerged that allow blogging and therefore meet that goal of creating fresh and sharable content for your website and brand. So slowly it became unrealistic to manage the endless updates and poorly written third party plugins that a standard wordpress site relies upon.

Now days, a small business needs to maximize every minute of their efforts and every dollar in their budgets. So, running updates, fighting off hacking attempts and keeping your site alive and looking its best - can no longer be a major undertaking. The good news is, there are a lot of great new options that equal better results for your business and less headaches along the way. :)

*In certain situations WordPress can be a great solution. Specifically in the hands of a skilled web developer/designer or amongst a larger company’s web and marketing team. However, this is not the case for a small business.

If you have a wordpress site right now… as most of the world does… don’t panic… it’ll probably keep going for a bit. However, you undoubtedly know how expensive and time consuming it is to keep that site working properly.

In fact, nicenerds charges more than double to make a new site in Wordpress, and we work tirelessly to motivate customers towards a different option instead.

Additionally we warn of the impending maintenance costs, and risks of hacking and total loss.

It’s a massive issue for small business owners.
